Living Rock
A mountain so high
 Made with diamonds in rough
 The top is my mark
 Of making it aloft
 Stretching my mind
 To each place of rock
 Balancing my place
 Putting it in lock
Pulling myself with only my heart
 I struggle and fall
 But I must get up
 Again I reach out
 With my mind and chest
 Mixing together both
 Is my only chance
 My fingers they bleed
 From the sharpness of life
Every blunder shaper than a knife
 Almost there I cry
 The peak I plea
 But beyond it extends
Stretching as far as I can see
 I gasp, yes, but I don’t give
I stretch out to the rock
 I will to live.
