Little One
I wish I could write you
The word's greatest poem
With words like lace
And meaning defined yet broad
To defend you against
The horror of others
Batle their cruelty
With open curiosity
I wish I could help you
To be king of the world
Raise you up on my shoulders
Our voices would be like a roar
Bombarding their ears
With our readiness to win
We'd take the castle
We'd take their fears
I wish I could support you
Through the terrors of life
I'd fight the monsters
Without using a knife
I'd use mhy words
Like you'd learn to do
We'd talk them in circles
We'd be our own crew
I wish I could see you
As you used to be
With little blonde curls
With no trace of insecurity
Pudgy loving hands
Reaching for my care
I'd wrap you up darling
I admit I'd stare
I wish you could read this
And I wish you'd understand
