&ldquo;Sure, I can talk like you, but I choose not to, It&#039;s like an art, you know? Picasso had to prove to the world he could paint the right way, before he goes putting both eyes on the side of a face... See if you paint wrong because that&#039;s the best you can do, you just a chump. But you do it because you want to? Then you&#039;re an artist...You can take that to the grave and dig it up when you need it.&rdquo; <br /> ― Neal Shusterman, Unwind

Ubiquitous happiness,
Warmth in her never-ending smile,
Enduring the vicious nights together
In a syrupy twinge of affection

The lights that shine on her pale features,
Embracing the good and eradicating the bad
As if viewed behind grainy glass.

We scour the pirated copies of life together.
Alone in a lighthearted bedroom
Acutely aware of their presence,
The Jesus freaks and bible thumpers,
But incorruptible in our damnable ways.

For our happiness is dredged in sin,
And our sins in happiness.
So pray to your vapid and vengeful god,
Because my god would rather my happiness.
He is altruistic and selfless
And revels in joy and tranquility.

Your god, he sees you as a pawn,
A good little soldier
Unerringly forcing your religion onto others.
He restricts and punishes, but rarely says yes
And he approves of famine and flood and disaster.

Not my god.
He is the wielder of light,
A compass in uncharted waters
And the twinkle behind love’s hazel eyes.

He is in the brief glimpse of a soft winters breath
And the twittering of the birds,
But most of all he is the light that separates
Your end of the tunnel from mine.
