October Afternoons
I step outside wanting to feel alive
Wanting to hear
Wanting to smell
Wanting to taste life
The wind plays with my hair
I let it overtake me
Let it caress my face and arms
A breath of the life I want
The leaves fly around me
Never touching one another
Never harming me
They flutter full of life
The sky is speckled with blue
The sun is out of sight
Sending a chill up my spine
This is what it means to be alive
The rain starts to fall
Cold and wet
But it does not hurt
I feel alive
I stand in the rain
In the leaves in the wind
Nature dances around me
The dance of an October Afternoon
The dance of October Afternoons
