“Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do.”
-Michel de Montaigne

When I told you I was sorry
Did you really take it in?
Did you ears somehow fail you?
Or the thickness of your skin?

Take my humble gesture
I know you're better than this.
Instead you slam the door on me
I just don't get the gist.

It's been 9 months since we've spoken
I don't call this forgiveness.
Averted gazes, awkward glances
You look at me with tenseness

I miss your daily presence
You ruminate in my mind.
I simply don't understand
What anguish you hold inside

I should let you know though
It's killing me as well
The silence that has filled the gap
Is temporary hell.

There's no comprehension whatsoever
In this dilemma that I face
It haunts me in my sleep,
My dreams
Are full of your mistakes.

I know one day you'll look back
and see
That what you did was wrong.
Stupid and unfair,
Not to mention f***ing strong.

Your actions beat my heart into
A bloody pulp
In half.
Until that faithful day has come
I can never relax.

But when the time arrives
You'll see that,
You're the one who's sorry
The roles will have reversed,
It's unacceptably tardy.

A poem inspired by a "friend." We've all had that one friend who dumps us.

Truth is beauty and beauty truth, that is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know.

Really nice poem! I like effect that you create by using slant rhymes! :)
