My Guardian Angel,
He walks beside me,
Shortening his long strides,
To match those of my shorter legs

He glows
In the fading day,
Brighter than the snow,
Brighter than my very soul

If I reach out,
I could touch him
But unspoken taboo
Stands between us

But when I stumble,
He catches me,
As he always has,
Always does

My breath steams
Before me,
Yet nothing drifts
Before him

He leaves,
And I am left alone,
Though tracks
Crisscross the perfect snow

The author's comments:
I do have a guardian angel, and he does glow as it gets dark. He is my paint horse, Lucky. Although he stumbles more often than I.
