Stare
At first glance, I am striking
"You look like an angel," she told me
My hair glows wildly, flying around me
 Frame to a tender face,
soft lips, and eyes that carry my spirit
A natural beauty of the most traditional sorts

 I keep my eyes down
so that you won't get too close
Close to see that looks can be deceiving
 That my hair has knots
 Tenderness conceals unrest,
 with fierce effort
 My lips have cracks
 When you close the distance,
 My eyes are dim reflections
 of a weary spirit
A haunting beauty of the most disturbed sorts
