The Old Barn
The old barn is where we used to play when we were kids
In those days things were simple and life was easy
We were sent out to play in the morning and weren’t expected back until nightfall
That old barn caused us so much trouble
Even though I was younger and you thought it was ‘un-cool’ you still played with me
Sometimes even Mom would come out and play too
There were the summer nights when we’d stay out all night catching fireflies
Mom was so mad yet she couldn’t bring herself to punish us
Reality turned into memories the day you disappeared
Mom cried for days while I was confused about what was happening
But that old barn was always the place I would go
It almost felt as if you were there
A couple of years ago Daddy wanted to destroy the old barn but Mom wouldn’t let him
She still believes you will be back
