she's right there, at the edge
standing on the line between
just giving up & finally being happy
but sometimes
it hurts so bad, it tears her up inside
and dammit all
how she's supposed to fight for happiness
when what makes her happy
is what's tearing her up on the inside

so maybe she'll just stay here
standing on this line
arms spread wide, face to the sky
she'll stay in that place
where happiness and pain
are one and the same
