Too much, too late
They had almost blank faces
But felt deeply inadequate
Those girls looked in the mirror
They felt sad at their mortality
Their impermanence
Why are they invisible?
It was all too much, too late
They all wanted to look
And dress like they knew
That there was something
Real going on
The calm at the heart combated stronger passions
She was the one who most
Needed freedom and adventure
As much as they knew her
Sleeping and dreaming side by side,
They could not know her at all
