The Slash Poem
When we write,
We write of things of beauty
 Of things of awe
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
Things we can express ourselves with
That we see every day, hear about,
 And most of the times
Have heard them being compared already
 But we still use them
 Still write of them
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
The things that we feel matter
 Simple, so simple
So…I’m going to tear from that
 And write about something random
 Something arbitrary
 A slash
A slash because I feel like being different
And rebelling from commonly used things
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
So, I’m going to rebel with a slash
And I’m going to make a slash
 Amazing to write about
So here goes the Slash Poem
 A slash is punctuation
 And also called a stroke-slash-solidus-slash-virgule
The slash can be used in replace
 Of a hyphen-slash¬-en dash
 The slash can slash between
 Two similar-meaning words-slash¬-phrases
But a slash can also mean to cute-slash-slice
So I’m going to use this slash and slash
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
 Because I feel like it
Not because we feel they matter
I simply feel like being a rebel-slash¬-rejecting against
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
 What now?-slash-Beat that!
 Slash can also define-slash-mean
 To criticize somebody
We sometimes like to slash people
 Slashing them with words-slash-phrases
And we slash them and say I hate-slash-loathe-slash-detest-slash-very much dislike-slash-abhore-slash-despise-slash¬-deride you.
 Another definition for a slash
  Would be to reduce-slash-lessen something
Like how I’m using a slash and slashing to slash
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
We sometimes like to slash people to slash them
And when we slash those people we also slash-slash-reduce their confidence-slash-self-esteem
 Even if it’s not nice-slash-benevolent
 You might be slashed back
 And you would have slashed
 Yourself into a slash war
 In addition, slash means
 To remove forestry
After going around to slash forestry
There’s going to be rubble – rubble not rebel
Lots of rubble of slashed forestry
 With is also called slash
So when you slash trees by slashing,
You’re going to get a lot of slash
And the Plant A Tree Today Foundation
Make slash you for slashing by slashing the trees when they see the slash
 But, did you know…
A slash can also be a swamp?
 It’s true!
I can take a slash and slash down
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of home
 And slash-slash-reduce them
 To slash…perhaps in a slash…by a slash…by doing a slash
 What now?-slash-Beat that!
 And I suppose this
makes me a slasher to use this,
 A slash of rebellion
 But we don’t really write
 The common things whenever
 We write what we feel
 What we feel, we write
Even if we write about something random
 Something arbitrary
We end up using it to express ourselves with it
 Like
 A bird of freedom
 A flower of hope
 And like here,
 A slash of rebellion
