Long summer days
Lost their marvel, it’s all
Fireworks, but no spark
Clear blue water, but no splash
All laughter, but no emotion
Plenty of want, but no devotion
Misguided intentions
Leave us with a lack of direction
Chasing an old dreams
With more sinister schemes
Leaving progress futile
Broken bottles, Cigarette burns
Mark the year as it turns
To a cold autumn breeze
Somehow we move along with ease
