Oh, how I long to travel beyond the ocean!
Far, far away must lie wonders that I can only imagine,
Wonders that I can only dream of now.

I can try to picture the land beyond the ocean,
The Himalayas, like powdery arrowheads in the sky,
Bouncing waves, rumbling and tumbling onto a distant shore,
African swamps, feeling mushy like a cold potato salad beneath my feet,
The roaring of howler monkeys echoing in the rainforest.
If only these perceptions were truly my own.

Are these beautiful wonders just an illusions?
Are they just a creation of my imagination?
These are the answers that I seek.

At home, America has called out to me, and I have answered.
I have embraced the sights it has to offer.
Dust floating down like golden snowflakes within the arches of Utah,
Sunbeams cruising towards me like giddy fingers in Arizona,
The feeling of power flowing past my body and down the streets of Washington,
The smell of the salty ocean air caressing the shore of a beach.
These memories still flash back to me.

With these memories, I carry pieces of the outside world with me.
Like the first taste of a creamy chocolate, they make me wish for more.
Perhaps I may never see the beauties beyond the ocean,
But I can still dream.
Dreaming, dreaming, dreaming
Like a migrating bird, my goal keeps me going,
A goal to find a better place,
A goal to go beyond the ocean.

This is really great. It kind of reminds me of a seafaring sailor or captain who basically lives on a boat. Very interesting. (: Make sure your stanzas are equal length or a consistent length. Great job overall!
