Elegy
You put your hand on me
when laying on your death bed
you said to be strong for the Lord watches over me
But you knew all too well the temptations of man
So with good came evil and evil again
by the sweat of my brow
Only God could see the depth of my sin
You used to be the one
The one I thought of
when desperate for hope
Like a flame to its smoke
I try, try to swim
when it rains
but I'm always drowning, drowning in my pain
Still, I call to you
Your words like blood running through my veins
Maybe someday you'll find the pieces of me
In a teary-eyed lament
