When Fall Creeps In...
Fall
He creeps up behind me; I can feel his breath cold on the back of my neck
 I choose to ignore him
Even when he paints the world orange and yellow, covering up summers green
I tell myself he is not there
When his frigid fingers grasp the flowers, freezing them until they are gone
I close my eyes and look away
He shakes the trees until they are lifeless and bare
But I pretend not to notice
It is not until he is swept away by the blanket of snow that hides everything
That I know that fall too is gone
Replaced by freezing days and snowy nights
 Down coats and wool mittens
 Gray skies and white land
 Winter
