Seattle
Seattle
 the fantasies of
 brisk wind / cold rain
 warm liquids on the tongue
 igniting the mouth
 fireworks
 scratching worthless rhymes
 in a notebook
 poetry on a napkin
 just like all the others
 waiting unsteadily
 still overwhelmed with hope that
 THIS WILL BE THE YEAR
 but the car will choke
 the roof will cry
 and the market will crash

 start again

 but know
you will never leave this city
 it doesn't get better
 the rain clouds will grey
 tomorrow
 and they will weep
 tomorrow
 just like today
