Standing Down
I was thinking that maybe,
We could make up,
End this childish silence,
And immmature avoidance,
Of each other and
The subtle biting quips,
And the hinting yet,
Strident malice edging,
Each of our encounters,
Because I am sorry,
For overreacting to your,
Underexplained proposition,
And I want to be,
In good standing with you and
Be good friends,
As we were before,
Even though we may never be lovers again,
At least soften the memories,
And ebb the tears,
Warm the glances,
And give second chances.
