Cross country
“XC”
The first day of cross country is exciting
You start off slow
You deliberately advance
You meet many new friends
That are always looking for you
Running together makes us a familia
The day of a race is nerve racking
The warm ups
The time
Your pace
Your team
Your on the line
Butterflies in stomach
The gun goes off
You ready to win
Run, run, run
All you think about
Your time
Your pace
Your crazy hair in your face
The heat
The competing schools
Hoping for a metal
People cheering
Two miles left
Steady pace
One mile left
Your adrenalin kicks
Half a mile left
Your pace maximizes
400 meters left
Sprint, sprint, sprint
See the finish line
You become a super human
For only a second
Pass the line
Ready to barf
With a metal in hand
