Too Young Revolution

What is my body worth--
Innocent and a pure soul
To what extent does society value the idea of virginity?
What is my body worth,
When capture with no clothes
When conforming to the “Too-Young Revolution”
A time where innocence is lost

Once an action of love and trust
Is now replaced
With immature decisions of lust
And desire

What is my body really worth
While in pristine condition?
But when compared to theirs-- it is not
Innocence and virginity is undesired
All too many signed up for the
Too-Young Revolution
All too naïve and too quick to decide

Sex is a simple word, yes
But its implications are much greater
And the price of my body
Is now trapped in a crossfire—
Of how things once were
And how things are now
Oh , I ask
What is my body worth

My body is worth much more than a price
Of unveiled, immature decisions
My body is worth my own
My own choices
And my own cost
Not up for debate
Nor negotiations
But rather an unwavering spirit
Set to avoid conforming to the revolution

For I am not
And my body is worth more

The self-integrity
And self respect
And self-worth
Are all lacking in the presence of the young women of today’s society
And society itself has made it so
They are not unknowing of their body’s worth
But the truth of which their actions are observed
Prove they stand incorrect in the knowledge
They think
They posses

So they sign their names
To the recruitment list
For the “Too-Young revolution”
Letting their ballpoint pen
Misguide them

And as the young girls
Try to become grown women
Through their misinterpretations
Of womanhood
And sex
Their decisions are too rash
And overpowered with lust
They simplify the word
Though the meaning is more complex

So I need not ask what my body is worth
For I already know
My body and my virginity is as said
My own
But the price and cost is not relevant
Not yet
For I am a young woman in no rush
Of joining the revolution
Of becoming another statistic
Of becoming a victim to society’s negative contribution

I should ask what your body is worth

If mistreated so young and used so early
You will receive all the desired attention from society, surely
Because that is what we have succumbed to

But you will be no more than a name
On a list
Another statistic
A person
But never a significant being
So then, I ask
What is your body really worth?
And you look in the mirror
But you’re never really seeing
What have you made my body worth?
And is yours worth anything?

That was absolutely amazing. You wrote about one of the biggest issues in today's youth and put your own twist on it. I love it!
