The Ruin of Waiting
I love you more than life itself,
And yet you keep me on this shelf
You say you love me, too,
And I ache for those words to be true.
While you swear your love, I see you with her
Heartfelt eyes, holding hands, and things we never were
I promise myself that it's just for show,
That you love me more than she'll ever know.
The evidence is all right there
My dear, it is simply not fair
To keep me here, waiting
To keep me here, fading.
But I will fade, and I will wait
I'll convince myself you'll be a tad late
Late to love me, late to see the light
After all, you're only with her out of spite.
One day, my darling, you will see
Just how much you truly love me
When you bid her farewell, I'll be here,
Waiting, with no fear.
