Here I am,
By the Shore of the Sea,
Sitting on my rock, sitting silently,
My faded gray dress, folds around me like seaweed,
The bright green sea laps at my feet,
I watch it silently.

Here I am,
Watching and waiting for the sun to come up,
Like a large yellow orb in the middle of sky,
Under my breath I sing,
I sing of the sea, of its breath, of its movement strong and deep,
My rock never moves, though the tide comes and swallows it,
It is steady for me.

Here I am,
My long black hair dances in the wind,
It gets in my faces, catches on my red wet lips,
I don’t mind it; I just push it away,
And go on singing, of the shore and the sea.

Here I am, the sun is in my eyes,
I get up and walk the long sandy beach,
Sand gets in my toes, collects on my dress,
I go to my cave, I brush my hair.
I look in the mirror, and sing,
Sing of spring, of flowers blooming, of heaven, of sights not known to man,
I see them all, in my mind’s eye.

Here I am,
Fairer than any mortal girl,
I get up and walk the path to the town,
Still I sing, slowly, softly, sweetly,
My eyes like the sea, dance, enticing.

Here I am,
In the village away from the sea,
But I am never away from the sea,
I feel it pulsing, back and forth in my blood,
The people see, they stop and stare,
Mothers hate me, they close their windows,
With looks of venom that make me smile.

Here I am,
Out of the village in green pastures,
I sing, I sing, and I watch,
The soft grass still wet with dew,
Cleans my feet and makes me sparkle,
I look around and see a little lamb,
Sheep means a shepherd, I hope he’s young.

Here am I,
I see the shepherd lad,
He gets up, and stares at me,
I am more beautiful than he could ever have hoped,
He wants me; I smile bewitchingly and walk away,
Still singing, I look behind and see he is following me.

Here I am,
He follows me, trying to catch up, to get me,
I keep walking, around the town, back to the sea,
Which is calling me,
I sing, of heaven, of maidens fair, I sing and I know,
The shepherd lad is following me.

Here I am,
My rock is near, my sea is calling me,
I stop and wait for the lad,
He comes and I take his hand,
He can’t say a word, he just stares,
He doesn't even notice that I am walking in the sea.

Here I am,
The water up to our thighs, he doesn’t know, doesn’t say a word,
I keep my hand in his, I feel his heartbeat calling me,
I turn and smile, he smiles back,
He doesn’t know what will happen next.

Here I am,
Standing with my lad,
He wants a touch from my ruby lips,
He doesn’t know that it means death,
Not really death, peace, he and I will be one with the sea,
I lean forward and kiss him,
He gives a sigh and freezes,

Here I am,
I watch my lad melt away, like a shower of rain,
He melts into the sea,
I can feel him,
Humming with the tune of my heart and the sea,
Peace my lad, peace and sleep.

Here I am,
By the shore of the sea,
Sitting my rock, singing softly,

Here am I, a gentle danger to man,
My song it beckons, it pulls, it tugs to bring peace,
Here I am,
I am a siren.

I'm not quite sure if this is free verse, but I'm not sure what else it could be. :)

:D well thanks again. This is one of my favorite as well. Maybe someday I'll get around to writing the novel that was going to go with this.

This one, as I've already noted, is unparalled! I could never make something this beautiful. It never hurts to appreciate great work. I'm saving this one haha :P

Chills on top of chills atop another mound of chills. This was amazing! And beautifully written too, might I add. Another piece rich with imagery that I enjoyed envisioning. Moreeee :)
