Why is it I take the blame?
It was not I who touched the flame.
It was not I who felt the burn,
it was not I who took the turn.
It was not my hand stole his life,
but it is I who was cut by the knife.
Justice, they say, has been served,
but justice here is undeserved.
Why is it I am taken away?
When I desperately want a reason to stay,
but someone’s debt I am forced to pay
because of blame that on on me they lay.

This is good, and well written. The only thought i had was at the line "It was not my hand stole his life.." Maybe write it as 'it was not my hand that stole his life' , or something of the sort. It just seems like a word should be placed there. But this is a good poem and is well written, especially with your inspiration just being a photo.

We had to do an writing piece of a picture in my english class. The picture was of hands in habdcuffs, but the hands were flawless, like they'd never done anything.
