A dark, frightening landscape
Monsters of my mind grasp at me
A black hole stretches its maw
No light can escape

You appear
You enter the blurry edge of my vision
I see what my life could be
Instead of what it is

You reach out your hand
I take it willingly
No questions asked
You lead me towards a brighter place

You hug me
I hold you tight
Afraid of what might
Have happened without you

You show me the world
Through the eyes of someone else
And I see how I can change
To see it that way as well

Your love saved me
You brought me back to life
Now I can live more happily
Because of your light

The author's comments:
So I was feeling really down on myself, feeling horrible and depressed. Then I saw this girl I haven't seen for a little while and she reminded me of what it was like to be happy. This is my first ever real poem, in fact I wrote it because she told me I should try it. I figured free verse was the only one I could even attempt.

Ok I realise because of the formatting on the sight, it altered some of the lines and created another line with just one word which alters the flow of the poem. When you see one word lines, just reattach them to the one previous. Please don't judge it on that because that's not what I was going for.
