Afraid of the Dark
When she was little her parents tucker her into bed at night. Her mom packed her lunch and her dad helped her do her homework. She wanted to be something special when she grew up--and her parents told her she could. She never imagined a boy would break her heart, and she always knew her friends would be there for her. She wasn't afraid of anything except monsters under the bed and the dark.
Now she tuckers herself into bed at night. She's lucky if she remembers to pack her lunch and finish her homework. She's not sure that she can be anything she wants to be because she is almost grown up. She wishes she remembers what it was like before a boy broke her heart and she wonders where all her friends have gone. She knows that their are no such thing as monsters, but she is still afraid of the dark.
