can you promise to keep
your sugar-coated words
dripping with poetic tendencies
for the days when my heart
needs to remember your passion?
perhaps if you could save
your lovely syntax for a time
when only carefully placed
adjectives can mend my composure,
and delirious rhymes are
the only medicine to my sadness,
your precious breaths would be
better
spent.
