Starting Again
Torn from myself
Chalk stains chiseled upon steel backboards
River of blood, sweat, and broken dreams
Accumulate in a puddle of regret
 Drown away my absent tears

Guitar strings pried away from the neck
 Mangled mess of bohemia
 Her hair coffee swirled
 Salt and pepper nails
 Lips that dodge no words

 Close your eyes
 Consumed by night terrors
Even as the light blinds you
 Dilated pupils
No match for the shadows cast

 Fading into the abyss
Veins dyed the color of guilt
 Crack your fingers
 Breathe
 Walk out the door
