Circles on the Wall
There’s something about those spinning hands that I cannot quite trust. They never stop, they never rest, they never seem to rust. But as I look with skepticism at these circles on the wall, all the others put their lives in ticking hands that never slow. We let them tell us when we’re born and tell us when to die. So let me be the first to ask, why give them so much power? To control a thing as great as time, and no one’s ever checked. No one’s ever checked to see if ticking hands deceive us. Well I have tried and I have checked. I’ve found the ticking is tricking us. When one tries to time a clock, he must use another clock. But all the clocks, they work together to steal away our time. You may think a second stays a second while we tend change and grow. But if time cannot be timed, then how are you to know?
