Too Fast
The limited clock,
only so many ticks then tocks.
A chance to shine.
We cut in line.
The age of two,
so many interests to pursue.
A great big world,
for one little girl.
Crawling then walking.
Mumbling then talking.
Friendships progress,
joy and nothing less.
By the age of eight,
being a kid isn’t so great.
Wish away the time,
should be considered a crime.
Relations and lusts.
Less people we trust.
Responsibility and temptations,
a burning sensation.
Teenage years,
confronted with fears.
Our lives put to the test.
Will they give it a rest?
We can’t go back,
to where we were cut slack.
We just wait for tomorrow.
Through the pain, tears, and sorrow.
Silent shadows cry out,
can anyone hear me shout?
What I’d give to be little.
Fire in my eyes simmers to a sizzle.
Hearts are broken.
Harsh words are spoken.
When will it get better?
All I see is stormy weather.
This timeline trip,
so much we have skipped.
Was it enough?
Why did we rush to grow up?
