Little Ms. Perfect
because everybody else doesn’t matter as long as they think YOU are perfect
because life to YOU is nothing but a measure of how perfect YOU are
because YOU stay up all night obsessed with YOUR drive to be perfect
the others around YOU marvel wondering what makes YOU work so hard, so long
the mystery to YOU alone is revealed: YOUR self-worth lies
in YOUR exacting standards of perfection
YOU let nobody tell you otherwise,
 YOU are perfect
 YOU get perfect grades
no crappy teacher or friend can change that
 everything about YOU moans perfect
the way YOUR hair is a severe bun
the way YOUR nails are straight-cut
the way YOUR writing looks a mature 29 the way YOU never talk a lot to people and beat YOURSELF to death if YOU do
YOUR lips carved into an eternal, welcoming smile – of course!

yet, nobody sees YOUR cheeks at 2:37 am
moist and damp with warm, lemony tears
upturned towards the wall – two wet eyelids and one runny nose
one dry mouth wondering how long this façade will last
wondering whether that another special somebody
will see through this perfect golden mask
YOUR carefully crafted, rigid golden mask

YOUR face then turns itself again
 Seeing the world
clenched jaws trying so hard to relax
 Inhaling
YOU let nobody tell YOU otherwise,
YOU are perfect YOU get perfect grades no crappy teacher or friend can change that
