Abilities
You may be able
to kiss my cheek goodbye
but you can't kiss away
that sleepless night full of
sickening confessions and heartbreaks
when you finally told me you loved someone else
You may be able
to untangle the knots in my brown hair
but you can't untangle
my thoughts of giving up on myself
and wishing I had never experienced
the addicting warmth of your hands
as they made themselves at home on the small of my back
You may be able
to stop the air from filling my
fragile lungs as your eyes meet mine
but you can't stop
the sobbing in the shower
as I lay on the floor and see the water mix with my salty tears
and wash down the drain along with my sanity
