From The Ashes Of The Dead
From the ashes of the dead,
 A flower can grow.
 A stem, green and hopeful,
Pokes its wee head out of the ground.
 Up, up, up it rises,
Leaves and thorns sprouting from the sides.
Soon, a most lovely little white bud forms.
The bud is a pretty sight,
For it is a sign that something wonderful is soon to come.
 You wait, and wait,
And if you are patient and kind,
You will come out one day and a magnificent flower has spread its wings to fly.
Its petals are wide and smooth,
So vibrant and colorful, and you feel that color, in your heart.
So beautiful, it gives a reason to hope, it gives a reason to move,
Despite the grey clouds and endless brown hills that surround you.

You give me a reason to live,
You give me a reason to smile.
 Before I met you,
Everything was heavy, everything was oh so very dark.
Now I am able to notice the blue sky, and how very blue it is,
I am able to notice the flowers and the trees and all things beautiful.
You are why I don’t give up.
And I love you for that.
