You Don't have a soul, You are a Soul, You have a Body.-C.S. Lewis

We've all felt confined.
Stuck in the mud,
Trapped in repeat.

This was me for 18 years.
The 18 years I lived under your
Rule.
I was trapped, a prisoner in my own home,
A prisoner in my own mind.

She made days feel like weeks,
And weeks feel like eternities.
She made me feel like I was
Hated, unwanted, a monster.
She made me feel like I
Was in the wrong, all the time.

She made me want to die,
She made me try to die,
And when she learned of what I’d done
She said she’d hoped I’d died.

I was trapped in this home.
This home was my hell.
There was no escaping confinement.

It almost ended.
I was almost gone
For good.
But I didn't go through with it.
I refused to rise to her
Expectation of failure.

So if you've ever felt confined,
Stuck in a rut,
Or trapped in repeat.
Don’t give up, you won’t
Always be locked up.
Because just look at me,
Now I am free.
