Frozen with Fear
My heart is racing madly.
 I cannot think that clear.
 My tears blue my vision,
 and I ache with fear.
My world has turned upside down
 and every glass is half-empty.
 I shiver with strange apprehension
and I close my eyes tight.
 When will I be rescued?
 When will sunlight come?
Fear causes me to be frozen
as I watch the scene ahead.
 Screams, and punches and
 then I see a glint
 What little sunlight that
there is causes me to see
 the weapon of cold hatred
 pointed right toward me.
 Maybe I could get away
 but I am still frozen.
 I close my eyes
afraid of what I know I shall see
I hear the pop of the gun
 as the trigger is pulled.
 But then there is nothing.
