"You're just a kid. And you haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about." -Good Will Hunting

I dream of you
Do you dream of me?

I reminisce
Savor about the laughter
Feel the bitter tears
Someday, we will live happily ever after

I know you feel trapped,
Locked in a cage of steel bars
When you scream, nothing comes out
All you feel is that inconsolable itch in your throat

One day, I will free all the children
The homeless, orphans, and unfortunate ones
You will all be sheltered beneath my large wings
We will all be happy, smiling, with no worries

Only if that day were today
I sincerely wish
I hope
I pray even though I do not believe in God

For now, we live in the ditch
At the bottom of a lifeless mountain
With only a meal of sadness to look forward to
And a life of heartache

But don't fear
Because I'm coming back
Back to the only place where everyone loves me
Everything will be okay

Life goes on...

I hope you dream of me

The author's comments:
Every summer, I visit a small town called "ZhaoJue" in China and sponsor high school students to go to school because about 99% of them don't have enough money to attain a proper education. The conditions of their society and life is painfully harsh, so I wrote a poem about how I long to be with them and whisk them away into my imaginary land of happiness.
