Today and Today and Today
A dew drop fell from a leaf
In the time that yesterday became today
And today became tomorrow
When a butterfly spread her wings for the first time
And tomorrow became a single moment
Where our eyes locked, and I took my last breath
And the stars exploded into twinkling bits of silver
But not before a candle was lit
And led us down a corridor of stone
It was yesterday that I tripped
And today that I slipped
And tomorrow that I fell
But it is also yesterday and today and tomorrow that I got up again
Taking your outstretched hand
And following the light into the restful dark
So when I turned back for the last time
I smiled because the corridor had actually been a meadow
