Winter Ballet

Speckles turn and twirl
in slow-time motion,
dancing to the
music of whistling winter air.
The flakes merge with others
in tight miniature bundles,
drawn near to gather solace
and collect as one.
Silently, clusters descend
in tender sweep
that blankets the earth,
a lavish shawl of white.
The lips of the sky open,
snow cascades to kiss
gifts of wonder
in palms of children.
Spectacle of sparkling dreams,
Promise on protruded tongue,
Murmur of whirling wind,
Pine tree tang, and soft
Silk.
