reflecting back on

that night

i thought

life would be

instantly

better

but now

i realize how

foolish

of me

that was

because

only things

like death

and salvation

come in the

blink

of an eye

as the headlights

stare you

down

and you are

frozen

to the black asphalt

praying

to be whisked

away into

eternal

peace.

I was just reflecting back on a life changing moment and realizing that not everything was going to be instantly better than it was at the time. It was going to take some effort on my part.
