It's a funny thing
Losing someone you love.
It's like your lungs
have been ripped out and stepped on,
But you still breathe.
It's like your whole body
Just shuts down and you can't move,
But you go about your days as normal.
And then one day
Your body wakes up.
Your lungs start to contract.
Your heart begins to beat.
You look at the world
And you smile.
It's a funny thing
Losing someone you love.
You think you'll never be happy again
And then,
You are.
