The Fourth Creature
A bird of prey; his wings are wide.
His shadow is a shade.
To cross Atlantic, he can wade
He’s the fourth creature this year
That has engulfed the land in flame.
Though none have been the same.
The first one had a spring.
He leapt up from the snow.
The second melted us so.
The third one fell from the sun.
He brought color and Autumn begun.
This creature is the fourth.
He is chilling to the bone,
And every year he’s known.
He is long and harsh.
He is a dragon settling in
Making his home, a winter to begin.
