Where I'm From
I am from tacos de asada,
Tamales on Christmas and ring pops,
(sweet, red and fruity)
I am from crying silently
at night on my
warm,
cozy,
bed.
From shutting down
From screaming my lungs out.
I am from my fear of
Sand, and imaginary
Monsters.
I am from rape,
Scary, dark, and unfair!
I am from mistakes,
Broken goals, and
Smiles.
I am from five
Annoying and helpful siblings.
From both parents
Yelling, kissing,
Fighting, hugging.
I am from reading at night,
Pretending to sleep,
And laughing.
I am from soccer,
Lacrosse and somehow basketball.
I am from boiling up,
Shutting down,
And not speaking up.
I am from his
Actions,
From his drugs,
His tattoo and his secrets,
Its awful.
I am from
Lingering guilt,
Of not saving her,
Not stopping him,
Not telling,
And not giving
Good advice.
I am from many things
Good or bad
They make me,
Me.
