 they put a plastic bracelet 
 
 around your wrist- it is always
 
 either too tight or too loose
 
 ii.
 
 abstract paintings on the wall
 
 will never make any sense-
 
 blotches of color will not change how
 
 nauseous, depressed, or dead i feel
 
 iii.
 
 trying to focus on the book i bring
 
 is impossible- those left waiting
 
 in the waiting room, those healthy ones
 
 will always stare, always notice
 
 the signs marking me as other
 
 
 iv.
 
 tears are a sign of acceptance
 
 a sign of weakness
 
 no one cries here

 the walk of shame
 
 when they call your name
