Practice what you Preach
We are supposed to trust teachers
We are supposed to respect them
But trust is a rare commodity
Unable to be bought or traded
Found rarely among friends
Even less among foes
But respect is found everywere
In this teenage wasteland
Not always good
But always given
In return for like trade
Respect for our friends
Respect for our foes
But teachers
Teachers demand it but never give it
They sit upon their
High and mighty thrones
Deigning to throw us a bone
A half-hearted compliment
With iron fists
And upturned noses
They treat us like children
Incapable of coherent thought
Pigeon-holing us into stereotypes
Stoners, Druggies, Dead beats, Bubbleheads and genius’s
But to follow in the formidable footsteps of The Breakfast Club
We are more than we appear
There is more to us that what you see
Beyond the F*** You attitude
Lies a broken home life, with an abusive dad and a druggie mom
Beyond the Vapid and Shallow exterior
Lies the mind of a genius, Afraid of being alone
The wonder kid, smartest in the class
Is afraid they’re not as smart as you think they are
And above all this, Lies the teachers
Spewing filth and hate
Demeaning and Discriminating
They sit on their high horse and
Talk about how we should be respectful
About how Bulling is a problem
Maybe if they practiced
What they preached.
Don’t judge a book by its cover
Everyone is equal
No child left behind
All of these speeches
Preached but never practiced
Useless
Every one of them
So how can we trust them
How can we respect them
Until they do the same
