It Wasn't Supposed to Be...
It was never supposed to be him,
It was supposed to be his brother,
His now dead brother.
I was there,
We all were,
It was simply friends,
And one kiss ruined so many people’s lives.
I never loved either of them,
That I’m certain of,
But no one was supposed to die.
An angry,
drunk boy in love,
was not supposed to get in his car and drive away,
he was not supposed to crash,
into a minivan with five small children,
and kill them all and himself.
We were drunk,
And emotional,
And I kissed the wrong boy,
The blood is dripping from my fingers,
And time has yet to cease and let go of the horror,
I hold the gun to my head,
And wait for someone to come along and pull the trigger.
