Words Left Unsaid

Dust motes unruffled on a window pane,
fluttering through the air in the stream
of light shining within.
Barefoot steps are muffled outside
the bedroom door, silently padding
down the marbled hallway.
Eyes still closed, breath still slow,
the door creaks open.
The quiet, that’s all there is;
filled with words left unsaid.
