two light years from the sea we
dropped our feathers and
sank into the
dead grass

home is a long ways
away

there is a plastic tag on
my foot
and I itch

I have been flying my
worst, twisting and
shaking to try to shake the
silver noose off

but it is so stubborn

and home is a long ways
away

one light year from the land I
watched you sputter and
fall still under
dying sunlight

the oil glistened bright
and I feel
very helpless

home is a long ways
away
