They could have saved her
"She's young,
"She's pretty,
"What more could she want?"
Oh if only people knew,
Knew that behind the mask
of youth a person inside is dying
Slipping away, losing themselves,
While nobody cares to notice.
Put down to teenage blues,
Nobody looked to see more,
Hurt inside, ready to give up.
"Take some more pills,
"Leave the dirty world"
So tempting to her mind,
And nothing could ever stop her.
She woke up once more,
In a hospital bed, shaky as ever.
It didn't even take the pain away.
"You'll have to see someone"
The nurse calmly chimes,
Calm, really? she thought,
No one's worried I nearly died?
Every one too busy,
Even now no one cares,
Moving about there daily jobs
Looking down on a girl so worthless,
Society fails again,
Never taking time to care
For the young or weak.
She runs to her room,
Grabbing the razor,
And the jar of pills,
Looks in the mirror,
A torn little girl staring back.
Downing the pills,
Clearing her mind,
Dragging the blade
Across her porcelain skin
Exposing the blood best
Left inside herself.
Why only now do people cry,
Only now people see,
As they stand around her coffin,
Wishing that they knew.
If only they opened their eyes.
