What We Do
Hands shake and knees tremble as I sit and think of you
A sigh that spills out from my mouth, when we’re apart it’s true
That our hearts are so many miles apart that neither one of us
Can hold our feelings in ourselves, then question each other’s trust
“You must have known what you were doing, am I the one you see?
Or is your heart still set with her, the other one before me?”
“Without you I’m blind, I cannot see. You are my only light.
But you question every move I make. It’s you who wants to fight.”
So every minute we are apart our clock sends out a hiss
And mocks our love, despite our strength, you are the one I miss
Though time is loud with every strike the hours seem to shrink
Hours turn to minutes and minutes to seconds. Each day is but a blink
So distance is our devil, “so what?” You’d think he’s come to stay
But soon our love will raid the beast that stands within our way
And every doubt within our minds will go away as well
Let love and truth reveal our hearts and surely that will tell
When hands are held and lips are touched, every feeling’s true
That we are one, that we are love. And love is what we do.
