"And in that moment, I swear we were infinite." ~ Perks of being a Wallflower, my favourite book.

Father: Darling there are no monsters beneath your bed,
Darling kick that thought right out of your head,
there'll be plenty of things for you to be scared of in the future,
but for now, there are no monsters beneath your bed

Sweetheart, your toys just are not alive,
sweetheart keep that thought clear of your mind
there will be plenty of things for you to believe in, in the future
but for now your toys just are not alive

Baby, nothing will get you in the dark,
please believe me with all of your heart
there will be plenty of things you won't see coming in the future
but for now, nothing will get you in the dark

Honey i have something i need to say
your mother and i do not love each other in the same way
she has her needs and i have mine
and things will never be the same again

Mother: Darling, you did not just see that chair leap
Darling, try your hardest to get some sleep
there will be plenty of things that will leave you in awe
but for now, that chair did not leap

Sweetheart, no one is waiting outside
Sweetheart, try your best not to cry
there will be plenty of times that will leave you upset
but for now there is no one outside

Baby, there are no voices inside your head
baby , please remember all of the things i have said
there will be plenty of things you'll want to unhear in the future
but for now there are no voices in your head

honey, there is something i need to tell you
the secrets have changed the man i knew
so for now your toys are more than alive
you should be terrified of the dark and people waiting outside
pay attention to every single voice in your head
because your father will become the monster beneath your bed

I wonder whether the things that our parents tell us when we are little and sitting in our cribs, have an impact on us later on in life

I really liked this poem!  It kind of struck me for the last verse and I loved that!

smile through everything no matter how bad it gets because it could be worse and if it gets worse well then it can only get better. :)

I love how the poem all came together! It was very well written and it is very relatable to many readers. Good job!
