A fire burns,
Bright inside,
My heart is where this flame resides.

When it's heated,
My cheeks will glow.
When you hurt me you will know.

My smile will fade,
I'll look away.
And then pretend that I'm ok.

But actually,
Inside me,
The flame will glow more intensely.

Until I'm consumed,
In its pain.
Until I am no longer sane.

It will feast on me,
Till nothing lasts,
But just a pile, of dust and ash.

The author's comments:
Dust and Ash was inspired basically by insecurity. How someone can say something about you and it consumes your thoughts and controls your actions until basically nothing is left of you but misery. I like how a lot of people can relate to this piece.

Thank you very much Roses! Yes, I wrote this when I was feeling fairly hurt/insecure one day. All my poems are made to be relatable, and I am glad you feel that way!
