Friendless Stranger
Walking through the park
I walked past a lonely bench
seated upon it was a woman
 just sitting there
 staring into closed emptiness

 her eyes seamed so vacant
 she had no company
 no companion to verbalize with

 and I started to wonder
if perhaps she was speaking to a friend
a friend which her lonely mind had created
silent from without, loud from within

 was reality lost
or something she was never allowed to have

had she always been in isolation
forced to be alive with no communication
did affection cease to exsist long ago
or was it something she had only been allowed to dream

 this friendless stranger
 I seemed to relate

did she ever have friendful companions
it was obvious she didn't have them now
but did she when she was younger

if she did, did they contribute
to this great state of solitariness
 were they not understanding
 of her prematurely dying heart
or did they take advantage just to leave her back in the dark

 this woman
she was living but not alive
her heart was long in desolation
 her mind beginning deterioration

these were just moments of thought
 in the seconds walking past
 this friendless stranger
who was living in a world
I'd wish no one to enter
